This device contains a special compound cartridge the compound's particles attach themselves to the dissolved salts in the water and prevent them from collecting on the inner walls of the pipes, thus preventing the scale build-up

The cartridge should be replaced twice a year. It is also advisable once a year to disconnect the collectors from the system and wash them through with a high pressure jet of water.
